Optimized situational awareness and increased tracking capability
The APG-79 radar's powerful array, back-end processor and operational software make the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, F/A-18 Hornet and EA-18G Growler stronger than ever before.
Taking a combat-proven radar and optimizing it. Delivering increased air-to-air and air-to-surface targeting and tracking capabilities through near speed of light beam steering.
The APG-79 may be tailored to fit any platform's size, space and requirement – particularly for legacy aircraft.
In full-rate production for the U.S. Navy and Royal Australian Air Force, RI&S has delivered over 700 systems to their Super Hornet and Growler squadrons.
Built with open system architecture and commercial-off-the-sheet parts, the APG-79 still delivers on reliability and increased capability.
A scaled version of the APG-79, the (V)4 also implements Gallium Nitrade, or GaN, technology. This technology insertion allows aircrews to see further and clearer. The U.S. Marine Corps selected the RI&S APG-79(V)4 to upgrade their Hornet fleets.
