Raytheon Intelligence & Space maritime surveillance systems excel in European demonstrations
Waddington, England (Dec. 7, 2021) – Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a Raytheon Technologies business, successfully demonstrated its maritime surveillance systems onboard the MQ-9B SeaGuardian® remotely piloted aircraft in joint military exercises for the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force and other members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO. The company’s SeaVue radar and AN/DAS-4 Multi-spectral Targeting System excelled in critical surveillance radar functions for port and border security, search and rescue and disaster response during operations over land and sea in controlled airspace.
“SeaVue offers flexibility in operational altitude with refined algorithms optimized for maritime surveillance,” said Barbara Borgonovi, vice president of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems for RI&S. “That means that unmanned platforms using our solutions can fly higher and longer while capturing images that are more valuable to allied forces.”
SeaVue provides enhanced high-altitude persistent surveillance and identifies targets of interest on the surface of the water rapidly and efficiently to support tactical decision making. The DAS-4 sensor suite offers operators electro-optical surveillance in high-definition and full-motion video to identify and engage targets with pinpoint accuracy.
The demonstrations were led by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., the developer of the SeaGuardian RPA. Joint exercises included the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army and forces from 11 other allied countries demonstrating interoperability with NATO partners.
