Raytheon ELCAN delivers first Specter DR sights to Danish Army
Dual-role sight helps NATO soldiers see close up and far away with a single sight
MIDLAND, Ontario, (September 14, 2021)—Raytheon ELCAN, a Raytheon Technologies subsidiary, has started deliveries of the integrated rail ELCAN Specter DR dual-role sights in three variants to the Danish Defence Armed Forces. The variants provide increased capability and situational awareness at near and far distances, helping soldiers operate more effectively and safely.
The first deliveries are part of a $10.1 million contract awarded last year to Raytheon ELCAN by the NATO Support and Procurement Organisation, or NSPA, to provide the Specter DR dual field-of-view sights in both 1-4x and 1.5-6x magnifications for rifles and machine guns.
The sights chosen by Danish Defence Armed Forces include a bullet-drop reticle and a Picatinny STANAG rail integrated into the housing with an ambidextrous easy-to-use throw lever to switch instantly between magnifications.
“The Specter DR dual-role sight is battle-proven with forces across NATO on rifles,” said Mike Lewis, rifle sights mission area lead for Raytheon ELCAN. “The Danish Defence Armed Forces will be the first to deploy this capability on light and heavy machine guns.”
The ELCAN Specter DR dual-role optical sight will supplement the present ELCAN C79 fixed magnification sight, as the standard-issue optical sight for the Danish Defence Armed Forces.
