Raytheon Intelligence & Space to optimize US Army ammunition software

Secures $27 million, 4-year contract for system to manage global logistics of ammunition

FORT LEE, Va. (Sept. 21, 2020) - Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) business, was awarded a $27 million, 4.5-year contract to maintain the software system used to manage allocation of ammunition at all levels of the U.S. Army.

“Raytheon Intelligence & Space’s software expertise underpins our military’s most important logistics missions,” said Bob Williams, vice president of Global Training and Logistics at RI&S. “Software makes logistics possible. We will help the Army maintain readiness of ammunition, keeping soldiers ready to fight around the globe.”

The new contract supports the Standard Army Ammunition System, or SAAS, which is sustained by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems. SAAS allows the Army to optimize allocation of and use ammunition of all types; meeting the planning, training and operational needs of commanders at all levels of the Army.

As part of the new contract, RI&S engineers and developers will ensure 24/7 system availability around the world. Their work includes correcting system performance issues, improving user experience and ensuring functionality.
