The Ultimate College Cyber Competition

The 15th annual National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

The National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, presented by Raytheon Technologies, is the nation's largest competition of its kind. The event gives cybersecurity students from across the country a chance to test their skills. In 2020, the University of Virginia returned as the wild-card team to win the championship for the third consecutive year.

The competition stages a simulated cyberattack against a fictional business network. Teams must keep the day-to-day operations of the organization going, performing everyday tasks, while fending off constant attacks. Qualifying and state rounds lead to 10 regional competitions across the nation. The regional winners advance to the national championship event.

In its 15th season, the 2020 tournament will bring together more than 2,000 grads and undergrads from more than 241 colleges and universities to compete for the annual cup.
